Privacy Policy

• Account info: the basics needed to sign you in.
• Your practice: every question you see and every answer you choose, which skills you work, your mastery and error patterns, your confidence, timing, and session history. This is the “memory” Click uses to teach you.
• Your conversations with Click: we record the back-and-forth of your tutoring sessions (what you ask, what Click says, where you got stuck) so Click can pick up where you left off and so we can improve the tutoring.
• Voice: when you talk to Click, your audio is sent to a speech-to-text provider and turned into a transcript. We keep the transcript, not the raw audio recording, and you can type instead of speaking at any time.
• Usage: standard device and log data to keep the service running and improve it.

We use your data in two ways. First, to personalize your tutoring (Click’s memory, spaced review, and what to practice next), which is tied to your account so it can serve you. Second, to improve StudyHall for everyone: understanding how students answer each question, calibrating difficulty, and making Click’s hints and guidance better. For this second use we work with aggregated and de-identified data (see below). We do not sell your personal data, and we don’t show third-party ads.

When we study how students learn or improve our AI, we use data with personal identifiers removed. Statistics like “how students answered this question” are aggregated across many students and are not tied to you. Before transcripts are used for analytics or to improve the model, we automatically scrub obvious personal details (like names, emails, and phone numbers) that may have slipped into the conversation. Your own learning history stays linked to your account only so we can teach you.

To deliver the voice loop and AI tutoring, we share the minimum needed with:

• Mistral: speech-to-text (your spoken audio to a transcript).
• Cartesia: text-to-speech (Click’s voice).
• Google: the Gemini model that powers Click’s reasoning.
• Supabase: database and authentication.
• PostHog: product analytics (which pages and features are used, so we can improve them).

These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.

StudyHall is for high-school students, and we treat minors’ data carefully. If you are under 18, use StudyHall with a parent or guardian’s involvement. Parents can ask us to review or delete a student’s data at any time.

• Type instead of talk. Voice is always optional.
• Ask us to export or delete your data by emailing us.
• Control microphone access through your browser at any time.

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your data, though no system is perfectly secure. If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and flag material changes in the app.
